Although Ayurveda is an ancient form of medicine, its principles form the core of a wise lifestyle approach to health that is as relevant today as ever. In this introductory session, we will highlight the Ayurvedic understanding that there are three basic types of mind-body constitutions (or doshas), and each person is a unique blend of all three. In these two 75 minute sessions, learn how to recognize your type and rebalance yourself using foods, spices and herbs, meditation, exercises and other helpful daily routines.
Register for this session for an introduction to Google's enterprise products and services offered to eligible non-profits at no cost. This training will be led by Melissa Reynolds, a HandsOn Tech AmeriCorps member. HandsOn Tech seeks to develop the nonprofit sectors effective use of technology to increase community resources and improve outcomes for low-income communities and families. It builds on Points of Lights goal of putting people at the center of change and Googles commitment to increasing technology accessibility. The program leverages the resources of VISTA members, skills-based volunteers and community partners to create meaningful and sustained impact in communities.

I am a former anthropologist turned MD--now using integrative medicine focused on Mind-Body approaches. I work with people not only to understand and improve their physical health and state-of-mind, but perhaps even more importantly, this work helps people to find or refine their bigger story: What really matters to them? What do they want to do with their time and energy? There is always some level of healing to come from this work, no matter how serious the illness or how bad the burn out. Where a person is open to learning, he or she will grow--often in unexpected ways.
HandsOn Network, the volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute, is the largest volunteer network in the nation and includes more than 250 HandsOn Action Centers in 16 countries. HandsOn includes a powerful network of more than 70,000 corporate, faith and nonprofit organizations that are answering the call to serve and creating meaningful change in their communities. Annually, the network delivers approximately 30 million hours of volunteer service valued at about $600 million.
