The quest for health is often advertised as easy, but in practice is found to be complex. Especially in times when clarity and truth are difficult to discern, Āyurveda provides methods for clear and personalized action that can lead to simplicity, groundedness, and choice. Health is a dynamic experience that is founded on reliable digestion, clear thinking, and decreased suffering. Though everyone's experience of balance is personal, there are a few things everyone can do to increase the potency of their digestion, learn how to make choices that are good for their unique needs - and thus be liberated from fads. This permits the experience of what health actually is in the body and mind. In this workshop, we will cover what health is from the Āyurvedic lens - including the signs of its presence and absence. We will also examine how a person can move closer to health by observing the qualities present in the foods, drinks, and activities they consume. The end result will be a more cogent understanding of health and a simple, engaging means to get there. The entirety of this lecture will be supported by textual references from the Brhat Trayi. This mode of teaching and study empowers all attendees to discover more information from primary source resources, leaving speculation and doubt behind.
